Understanding sexual abusers: a practitioner's guide
This workshop is designed for practitioners directly involved in work with sex offenders, for example, police and probation officers.
Course Overview
This training event is designed to enhance the skills of professionals working with perpetrators of sexual abuse as well as those newly seconded to a role which involves them in the assessment or treatment of sexual offenders. It provides an introduction to the theoretical perspectives and practical exercises that can be used by staff in the assessment of perpetrators.
Course Aims
- Presentation of theoretical frameworks for understanding sexual offending. Illustration of these theoretical frameworks through the use of video taped examples
- Demonstration of practical techniques which can be used in interviewing the adult perpetrators
- Risk assessment and risk management
