Benefits of volunteering
View the benefits of volunteering at the Lucy Faithfull Foundation -
As a leading child protection charity, the Lucy Faithfull Foundation is always keen to recruit volunteer staff who share our values and beliefs. We offer volunteering positions that not only provide individuals with the opportunity to help protect children, but also gain valuable experience within the voluntary sector. We are dedicated to reducing the risk of children being sexually abused and by volunteering with us you can help to protect children from harm. We believe that child sexual abuse is preventable, not inevitable, and provides a unique set of services which enhance community protection against child sexual abuse. Below you will find the volunteering opportunities we currently have available.
Please do check back on a regular basis for new postings. For more information please contact Media and Communications Manager, Deborah Denis, on ddenis@lucyfaithfull.org.uk or 01372 847160. Circles of Support and Accountability Volunteers - West MerciaCircles of Support and Accountability are designed to protect children from sexual abuse by preventing reoffending. A ‘Circle’ of volunteers from the local community is formed around an ex offender on his release from prison (known as the Core Member). They aim to address the safety concerns of the community, whilst giving support, encouragement and friendship to the core member in order to prevent re-offending. As a Circles volunteer, you will work with 4-6 other volunteers, offering support to an ex-offender to help them reintegrate into the community and live an offence free life. You will be working alongside police officers, probation staff and treatment experts to help keep children safe. Research demonstrates that isolation and loneliness are linked to an increased risk of re-offending – and this scheme provides ex-offenders with a support and advice system that helps prevent future offending and protects children from harm.
• All Circles volunteers receive full training and continuing support throughout the programme. In the first instance, volunteers would need to commit to 4-6 hours a week although this is likely to diminish over time.
For further information on Circles, visit the website www.circles-uk.org.uk or for an informal discussion call Simon Sauze on 01372 847160 or Steve Davies on 07943 805263. Stop it Now! Helpline Volunteers - EpsomThe Lucy Faithfull Foundation runs the Stop it Now! Helpline, which works to prevent child sexual abuse through offering confidential advice to adults concerned about child sexual abuse. Target groups include those worried about their own sexual behaviour towards children and those worried about the behaviour of another adult or child. We are looking for Helpline volunteers to take these calls and advise individuals on the best ways to protect children from harm.
Based in Epsom, and working as part of a team, the successful applicants will engage with callers, assess their needs and respond with practical advice.
• Flexible hours (shifts of 4 hours) For further information visit the website www.stopitnow.org.uk or for an informal discussion call Sue Ball or Alice Newman on 01372 847160.
