Stop it Now! UK & Ireland is a project of the Lucy Faithfull Foundation. It is a public education campaign aimed at preventing child sexual abuse by increasing public awareness and empowering people to act responsibly to protect children.
Stop it Now! UK & Ireland is developing a public health approach to the prevention of child sexual abuse through a network of local projects and national initiatives. Supported by a dedicated freephone Helpline 0808 1000 900, its aim is to provide adults with the information they need to recognise worrying behaviour in themselves or others, and with the confidence to take responsible action when they suspect that something is wrong.
Stop it Now! UK & Ireland promotes and supports the development of a network of area projects, each funded and managed locally with a local steering group and project co-ordinator. The project activities include media and public awareness campaigns, backed by the nationally run Freephone telephone Helpline. They share common key messages, target groups and branding. A series of public information materials have also been developed. Development of the project is overseen by an Advisory Council, chaired by Baroness Valerie Howarth and comprising representatives of Barnardo's, NCH, NOTA, NSPCC, Survivors Trust, Thames Valley Partnership, Voice UK, Faith Groups, DfES, the Home Office and other statutory and voluntary agencies interested in the prevention of child sexual abuse.

However, we would like to formally acknowledge that we have based our aims and approach on those originally developed by Stop it Now! USA. We appreciate the generous support given by our American colleagues to encourage us to set up this new initiative.
Confidentiality Statement
Our telephone Helpline offers a confidential service for people seeking advice and support. This means that when contacting us you do not have to give any identifying information such as address, telephone number or last name.
However if you do give us identifying information and we are concerned that a child is at risk or a criminal offence has been committed which the police may not be aware of, we will have to pass on that information to the appropriate agencies.
