A Harpenden-based dental practice has raised a staggering £4,000 to help fund our Parents Protect work to keep children safe from sexual abuse.
The money was raised at a very special Charity Dinner and Dance, organised by Gurjit Bhandal, a Harpenden-based dentist, and his wife, Suki.
Approximately eighty people from across the community in Harpenden came to the dinner, including the town’s newly elected MP, Mr Bim Afolami. They were treated to a sumptuous banquet of Indian food as well as a dazzling display of traditional Indian dance.
Elaine McConnell is the Chief Executive Officer of child protection charity The Lucy Faithfull Foundation which runs Parents Protect. Looking back on a hugely successful night, she said:
“We are so grateful to Gurjit and Suki for raising such an impressive sum. The Charity Dinner and Dance was a hugely enjoyable evening with an incredibly serious purpose – the money raised will help fund our vital work to give parents and carers the information and skills they need to protect their children and prevent the sexual abuse of yet more children. My sincere thanks to everyone who came and made it such a special evening.”
