Trends and insights from a unique helpline preventing child sexual abuse

Child sexual abuse is a global and dynamic problem of massive scale that too many people do not recognise. We believe that child sexual abuse is not inevitable and that everyone can help to prevent it. In this paper we explain how we tackle child sexual abuse before it happens and how we prevent it from reoccurring through the child protection support, advice and guidance
delivered by our anonymous Stop It Now helpline.

We speak directly with people who are a threat to children and we work with them to prevent abuse. We speak to the family and friends of people showing concerning behaviour, helping them to know what to do. This paper explores how we work safely and effectively to keep children safe.

Our helpline, the largest of its kind in the world, gives us a unique reach and insight. This paper will explain how we use our experience to feed into the latest research, develop effective resources and spot emerging threats so that we can play our part in stopping abuse before it happens.
