The world has changed, and so must we. In the wake of a rapidly developing digital landscape and the ongoing challenge of widespread child sexual abuse online and offline, we have taken a bold step forward.
Our 2025-2030 strategy is not just an evolution of our previous plan – it’s a stronger, sharper, and more ambitious commitment to protecting children and preventing child sexual abuse before it happens.
Why this strategy? Why now?
Despite progress in tackling child sexual abuse, the response remains fragmented. The world is still failing to prioritise prevention, and, post-COVID, online offending continues to rise. We can no longer rely solely on reactive approaches like criminal justice interventions. Prevention must be at the heart of every effort – because stopping abuse before it happens is the only way to create a world where children can truly live free from the threat of child sexual abuse.
Our new strategy builds on the success of our previous three-pillar approach – reach, research, and advocacy – by embedding them as solid foundations to fuel our strategic aims and underpin our five key objectives, providing greater clarity on where we must focus our efforts.
Our goals: a clear roadmap for change
Over the next five years, we are laser-focused on five key objectives:
Objective 1: Practice
We will run and develop inclusive, innovative and flexible clinical services grounded in evidence, responsive to our beneficiaries and those with lived experience, and we will reach more people in more ways.
Objective 2: Places
We will focus on making places safer for children and young people wherever they are.
Objective 3: Partnerships
We will build broader partnerships, collaborate with more people and organisations and harness the power of strength in numbers to develop and deliver prevention.
Objective 4: People
We will ensure we attract a diverse group of people into the LFF family and create an organisational culture where everyone can grow and thrive, driven by the shared passion to keep children safe.
Objective 5: Performance
We will embed excellence, efficiency, and sustainability across the charity.
By focusing on these five key objectives, we aim to create a holistic, proactive, and sustainable approach to preventing child sexual abuse. Our strategy is designed to not only reach more people in need but also to create systemic change that makes prevention a shared responsibility across society. We are laying the groundwork for a future where child sexual abuse is preventable, not inevitable.
Our objectives are interconnected – when combined, they create a powerful, multi-pronged response that strengthens the collective fight against child sexual abuse. This is not just about what we do as an organisation, but how we inspire hope, equip, and mobilise others to join us in this crucial mission.
What’s different this time?
We’re not just continuing the work we started – we’re deepening and sharpening our focus.
- Our strategy is more responsive and adaptable, allowing us to adjust to new challenges as they arise.
- We’re prioritising diversity and inclusion, ensuring our work reaches every community and reflects the voices of those we support.
- Our renewed emphasis on public engagement means more people will understand their role in prevention and have the tools to act.
- We’re strengthening our influence – not just reacting to harmful behaviours, but shaping policies, practices, and public attitudes to ensure lasting change.
"Preventing child sexual abuse is a complex challenge that requires a comprehensive and unified response. Everyone has a role to play. Along with delivering innovative and responsive services, one of our key goals is to build strong partnerships, helping people make the right connections and truly see the impact they can have on protecting children. Real change happens when we work together, with us all contributing unique strengths like pieces of a puzzle. By fostering collaboration and understanding, we can drive meaningful change and ensure a safer future for children."
Deborah Denis (CEO)
We will:
- strengthen collaborations with health and education sectors to expand prevention programmes.
- engage tech companies, social media, and gaming platforms to implement online deterrence strategies.
- work with governments, statutory agencies, thought leaders, and child protection advocates to push for stronger policies and greater investment in prevention.
- amplify the voices of the people we help, ensuring their experiences shape our work.
New opportunities and initiatives
Our plan is intentionally built for growth – allowing us to explore new interventions, partnerships, and innovations as we move forward. Whether it’s expanding our helpline services, launching new school-based prevention programs, or piloting groundbreaking research initiatives, we are committed to staying ahead of the curve in child sexual abuse prevention.
Measuring success: how will we know what's working?
We won’t just keep track of what we do – we’ll measure the impact of what we do. Success means:
- reaching and supporting more people through our Stop It Now helpline – ensuring those at risk of harming children get help before it’s too late.
- creating safer environments – whether through family interventions, school-based programmes such as Everyone’s Safer, online safety measures through our Project Intercept, and our Shore website for young people with concerns about sexual thoughts or behaviour, or simply by raising awareness.
- strengthening external engagement – forging powerful collaborations with schools and universities, the health sector, policy-makers, and frontline professionals.
How you can help
We cannot do this alone. Achieving our ambitious goals requires collective action. Whether you’re an individual, business, or policy-maker, there are ways to get involved:
Spread the word
Share our mission, advocate for prevention, and challenge outdated narratives.
Our 2025-2030 strategy is more than just a plan – it’s a call to action. It’s a vision for a world where prevention is prioritised, abuse is stopped before it happens, and every child grows up free from harm.
Together, we can make this future a reality.
