Shining a spotlight on our Welsh Government funded projects: new leaflets available

We’re thrilled to announce that funding from the Welsh Government has been extended for our child sexual abuse prevention projects – the Early Intervention for families and Public Education initiatives. To ensure these vital programs reach the people who need them most, we’ve created new promotional leaflets.

Saving Futures: Preventing Child Sexual Abuse Cross Party Group update

February’s Cross Party Group (CPG) meeting at the Senedd was a powerful moment in our ongoing work to protect children. The focus of the event was to reflect on the Welsh Government’s peer-on-peer sexual harassment action plan amplifying the voices of young people affected by this issue.

Joyce Watson MS stood in for Buffy Williams MS to chair the meeting, led by members of the Young Wales Feeling Safe (Online and in Relationships) Advisory Group, and joined by Cabinet Secretary for Education, Lynne Neagle MS. Attendees included representatives from other youth advisory groups and youth representatives interested in tackling peer-on-peer harassment in Wales, as well as organisations and charities such as the NSPCC, Barnardo’s, and Platform.

The group reviewed progress to date on the action plan, and provided an opportunity for the audience, particularly young voices, to highlight their priorities to help shape delivery against the core actions in the plan. The young people’s voices captured as part of the event will now be collated into a blueprint to inform the Minister’s considerations of next steps and CPG members will continue to monitor progress. A big thank you to all the young people who were involved in this event and shared their experiences.

Why we do what we do – public education feedback

After five years of delivering Welsh Government-funded Public Education sessions across Wales, we’ve received excellent feedback from participants, and here are just a few:

“Keep up what you’re doing as it matters so much.” Residential support worker

“I now feel more confident to have discussions with families about CSA and I have an increased awareness of the signs.” Practitioner

“The whole training was brilliant. The best training I have ever attended.” Foster carer

Your feedback fuels our mission and shapes our work towards protecting children and preventing child sexual abuse.

If you’ve attended one of our sessions, we’d love to hear from you. Email us at wales@lucyfaithfull.org.uk to share your thoughts.

Building partnerships to strengthen impact

At the Sexual Assault Workstream meeting in January, we showcased the incredible work of the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, including our Stop It Now helpline, deterrence campaigns, and our two Welsh Government-funded projects, and youth-focused initiatives.

In March, we attended WE STAND’s celebration event, gathering with key partners across Wales to discuss how to better support families affected by child sexual abuse. It was an inspiring morning featuring guest speakers from the CSA Centre of Expertise, Barnardo’s Cymru, and NSPCC Cymru, as well as courageous parents sharing their experiences and the impact of child sexual abuse.

Launching our 2025-2030 strategy: a bold new chapter

The world has changed, and so must we.

We’ve published our 2025-2030 strategy. It’s not just an evolution of our previous plan – it’s a stronger, sharper, and more ambitious commitment to protecting children and preventing child sexual abuse, before it happens.

Our new strategy builds on the success of our previous three-pillar approach, embedding these as solid foundations to fuel our strategic aims and underpin our five key objectives – practice, places, partnerships, people, and performance – providing greater clarity on where we must focus our efforts.

New resource: our family safety plan

Every family deserves the tools to keep children safe. Our family safety plan is designed to help families address concerns and risks related to child sexual abuse by fostering open communication, supportive relationships, and clear boundaries to protect children.

You’ll find:

  • proactive steps to protect children
  • guidance on reducing risks
  • strategies to create a safe environment
