We are delighted to announce that Yasmin Rehman has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and will start on Monday, 6 July 2026.
This news comes as our current CEO, Deborah Denis, prepares to step down to embark on a new challenge after 15 years at the charity.
Yasmin joins us with more than 20 years of leadership experience across the public, voluntary and community sectors. Throughout her career, she has worked on a range of social justice issues, with a particular passion for preventing harm, supporting vulnerable communities and driving systemic change.
Her experience spans strategy, governance, service development, partnerships, fundraising and organisational growth. Most recently, she has worked as a freelance consultant and interim CEO, following senior leadership roles in both the voluntary sector and the Metropolitan Police.
Her record of organisational growth is particularly strong. As Chief Executive of Juno Women’s Aid, she increased income from just under £2 million to £3.6 million, secured £4.65 million in investment to purchase 30 properties, and established Sirona Homes CIO as a new housing arm. These achievements reflect her ability to combine strategic vision with practical delivery and sustainable growth.
As Yasmin begins her role, we spoke to her about what inspired her to join us, what excites her most about its future, and how she hopes to lead the organisation into its next chapter.
I’ve spent my career working on social justice issues, particularly violence against women and girls. I think that, in this ever-changing world, particularly with technology, we’ve got to think much more seriously about prevention.
When I looked at the Foundation’s work, I just thought, “This is amazing.”
What struck me was the organisation’s courage. I was particularly drawn to the Foundation’s willingness to support people before harm occurs.
Preventing child sexual abuse means engaging with difficult conversations and complex issues that many people would rather avoid. There needs to be a much bigger debate about prevention. If society is serious about protecting children, we have to be willing to have those conversations.
The work of Shore really stood out to me. Young people today are growing up in a world that is very different from the one many of us experienced, and I think both parents and young people are navigating enormous challenges.
What appealed to me most was the opportunity to be part of a team doing incredibly important and courageous work, and doing it with dignity, integrity and compassion.
One of the first things that struck me was the culture. From meeting members of the Board and speaking to staff, I got a real sense of purpose and commitment running throughout the organisation.
The Foundation has built something incredibly valuable. There is a talented team, a strong reputation and a clear mission. It feels like a huge privilege to take on the role and build on what has already been achieved.
One thing I’m particularly excited about is helping us tell our story more loudly. Prevention is not always easy to explain, and it can sometimes challenge public assumptions. I think there is a real opportunity to continue raising awareness of our work, its impact, and the difference the Foundation makes.
I’m very values-led, and I believe collaboration is the only way to work.
I want to be visible, approachable and honest. I have an open-door policy, and I believe in listening to people and learning from them. I will always be honest if I don’t know something, because having a title doesn’t mean you have all the answers.
I want people to know that I’ve got their back. As a CEO, responsibility sits with you. Organisations are only ever as good as their teams, and one of the things I’m most proud of from previous roles is helping people develop, grow and succeed.
As I begin my time at the charity, my priority is to listen and learn. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and learning from their expertise and experiences.
