Inform Young People

Our Inform Young People Programme is an educational programme for young people in trouble with the police, their school or college for inappropriate use of technology and the internet including behaviour such as:

  • Sexting
  • Possession and/or distribution of indecent images of children
  • Engaging in risk taking behaviours online, such as accessing adult pornography

We also work with their families or their main care giver. Our engagement aims to prevent an escalation or reoccurrence of the behaviour.

Inform Young People programme - training for delivery

We are offering UK-based organisations specialising in youth services the opportunity to deliver our Inform Young People programme, that is designed for adolescents in trouble with the police, their school or college for engaging in technology assisted harmful sexual behaviour. The course will equip professionals to deliver the programme to young people they work with.

This course is free to attend but booking is necessary. Please click here for more information, dates and booking details.

How does the Inform Young People programme work?

Our specialist staff devise a programme of work tailored to the needs of the young person and their family. We typically deliver between three and five sessions of work. Each programme is delivered by an experienced practitioner either by telephone (through our Stop It Now! helpline - 0808 1000 900) or face-to-face.

What does the programme cover for young people?

The sessions are educative, designed primarily to provide support, advice and information to the young person and their family and each is tailored to their individual needs. However, sessions would typically cover:

The sessions help families to communicate about and confront very difficult issues while providing support for the young person. Families have the opportunity to explore issues, discuss behaviours and create individual, personalised, family safety plans to prevent the behaviour reoccurring or escalating.

Further work with young people

In the event that the young person requires more in-depth intervention and/or safeguarding procedures need to be implemented, this will be discussed with any agency involved. We can provide additional assessment and intervention services provided funding is available.

How much does the programme cost?

We are able to provide this service free of charge if certain criteria are met. Please contact us to discuss your individual needs.

Case Study

Read what happened when Bobby was referred to the Inform Young People programme.

A young man who had been accessing indecent images of children online: “Absolutely brilliantly delivered in a safe and warm environment. I wasn't sure what to expect, other than it to address the offending. These expectations were exceeded, it was more individualised than expected.”
A father: “Overall, the advice given has been used and I have noted positive changes in Shaun and our family.”
A mother:“I noticed a big change in Darren after his sessions.”
